I’ve just been thinking about how Edwards can help better his appeal in Florida. Bilingual ability really sells here in Miami Dade county as well as Broward.
Hispanics are foolishly frequently republican and yet even here in Miami they are unhappy with Bush. I see this as a time of opportunity to change. If John, Elizabeth or Cate can speak Spanish, I believe a bilingual appearance discussing Healthcare for all (another problem many hispanics clearly have is lack of insurance as immigrants) as well as policies concerning immigration and our relationship with Cuba. Clearly homeowners insurance etc are other great topics to discuss as they are through the ceiling.
Just a thought to help hopefully avoid another Florida issue. Creole is yet another facet of our community but the spanish language is spoken by I believe over 60% residents in our large county of Miami Dade. Winning this state and actually getting it this time is paramount!

If you have been keeping up with the questionable donations to the Billary campaign, it will seem to you a "replay" from 1996, when Bill experienced these problems from the same Norman Hsu, an apparel mogul from Hong Kong. Hsu apparently travels in powerful, influencial circles, donating big "bundles" of cash to certain campaigns—especially Hillary’s.
Of course the media is minimizing the activities of Hsu, just as in 1996…making it appear the Clintons know nothing about it. Believable? Ha!!!

Does anyone remember when Bush administration sought to raise allowable arsenic levels in our water? (Of course, he also issued regs permitting increased levels in e coli content in school lunches, but I couldn’t find an article about that today).
Following is from BBC article today:
About 140 million people, mainly in developing countries, are being poisoned by arsenic in their drinking water, researchers believe.

I would like to urge John Edwards to become aware of the needs of small farmers and give support to programs that will address their needs. www.nonais.org is an ecellent link to learn more about the concerns of small farmers. NAIS is the National Animal Identification program that needs to be stopped. There has been no legislation passed this program is being forced on livestock producers without proper representation.

After all the flack about what kind of mother Elizabeth Edwards is (I think she is great)I want to comment on what kind of PERSON she is because she wrote an article about ME. I wear a badge. It is a name tag really, that though it states my name, still presents me as a nameless store clerk to all of the people I wait on, day in and day out. Elizabeth wrote about the importance of people like me, to her, during the challenging times of her life. Hair dressers, taxi drivers, store clerks, waiters and waitresses, all of us, (etc. name tag people) that the public deals with everyday. She garnered my respect because she has noticed us, spoke highly of our presence and importance is her life. Thank you Elizabeth, for noticing us and speaking well of us. We love customers like you. God bless, Carolynn P. from Westbrook CT

Last night Ana Marie Cox, who has somehow inexplicably become the go-to gal at Time.com, was on Countdown to weigh in on Elizabeth Edwards’ remarks about a Hillary Clinton nomination energizing the Republican base in a new (and surprisingly uncatty) Time article about the Edwards campaign.
More on the flip….

President Bush delivered a speech on the subprime mortgage crisis this afternoon.
Here's how Barack responded:
For six years, the President and Congress have allowed lending industry lobbyists to block sensible regulations that could have prevented this crisis in the first place. Now, after many Americans have seen their homes, their credit histories, and their financial well-being jeopardized the President is finally offering a proposal that helps a small fraction of homeowners. These are welcome steps, but the President’s proposal does not go far enough. I have called for a plan that will help far more struggling borrowers avoid foreclosure, crack down on unscrupulous lenders with new penalties and disclosure requirements, and reduce the influence of lobbyists so that we will not face a crisis like this ever again.
In case you missed it, make sure you read Barack's op-ed on predatory lending in the Financial Times.
